I was facilitating a strategy offsite when the CEO stood up and confidently declared, “We must leverage synergies and align our core competencies for scalable impact.” The room nodded. Pens scribbled. But no one understood what that meant in practice. Later, a young risk analyst whispered to a colleague during tea break, “James, that sounded smart… but what are we supposed to do on Monday?”
That’s the curse of corporate leadership today: too much English, too little execution. Leaders speak in PowerPoint poetry: “transformational impact,” “strategic realignment,” “people-first culture” but the ground teams are left with questions, not clarity.
